February is the month for figs! When December hits and all the good fruit starts appearing I can’t help feeling a little bit wistful. Why would I be feeling wistful when there are mangoes, cherries and stone fruit galore you ask? Because there are no figs until February, that’s why. Talk about first world problems! But that time is finally here and I have been trawling the internet since I hit publish on my last Frankie’s Features post so I am pretty confident when I say I have gathered the best fig recipes out there.
These za’atar broiled figs with pecans and goats cheese honey ice cream, which I found on one of my absolute favourite blogs, The Bojon Gourmet. The fig recipe actually comes from Vibrant Food by Kimberley Hasselbrink which also looks amazing.
For the real foodies, how about this French baked brie with figs, walnuts and pistachios from The Mediterranean Dish.
And don’t forget my own poached figs with vegan cardamom ice cream which is one of my favourite desserts around.
If you make any of these I would love to hear about it, or better yet see it on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter. Just tag me @frankiesfeast or use the hashtag #frankiesfeast.
